Persistent Symptoms and IFN-γ-Mediated Pathways after COVID-19

چکیده
After COVID-19, patients have reported various complaints such as fatigue, neurological symptoms, and insomnia. Immune-mediated changes in amino acid metabolism might contribute to the development of these symptoms. Patients who had acute, PCR-confirmed COVID-19 infection about 60 days earlier were recruited within scope prospective CovILD study. We determined inflammatory parameters alterations tryptophan phenylalanine 142 cross-sectionally. Symptom persistence (pain, gastrointestinal anosmia, sleep disturbance, symptoms) patients’ physical levels functioning recorded. Symptoms improved many after acute (n = 73, 51.4%). Still, a high percentage complaints, women affected more often. In patients, ongoing immune activation (as indicated by neopterin CRP concentrations) enhanced catabolism found. A higher tyrosine ratio (Phe/Tyr) was found with lower level functioning. improvements pain Phe/Tyr ratios, while symptoms presented kynurenine values. Our results suggest that persistent often than men. addition, certain appear be associated immune-mediated metabolism.

Host immune responses after hypoxic reactivation of IFN-γ induced persistent Chlamydia trachomatis infection
Genital tract infections with Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis) are the most frequent sexually transmitted disease worldwide. Severe clinical sequelae such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), tubal occlusion, and tubal infertility are linked to inflammatory processes of chronically infected tissues. The oxygen concentrations in the female urogenital tract are physiologically low and furt...
متن کاملHuman Brain Astrocytes Mediate TRAIL-mediated Apoptosis after Treatment with IFN-γ
TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) expressions were studied in primary human brain astrocytes in response to pro-inflammatory cytokines. When astrocytes were treated with IL-1beta, TNF-alpha or IFN-gamma, TRAIL was induced in cultured fetal astrocytes. In particular, IFN-gamma induced the highest levels of TRAIL in cultured astrocytes. When astrocytes were pre-treated with IFN-gamma,...
متن کاملCD160 is essential for NK-mediated IFN-γ production
NK-derived cytokines play important roles for natural killer (NK) function, but how the cytokines are regulated is poorly understood. CD160 is expressed on activated NK or T cells in humans but its function is unknown. We generated CD160-deficient mice to probe its function. Although CD160(-/-) mice showed no abnormalities in lymphocyte development, the control of NK-sensitive tumors was severe...
متن کاملA novel model for IFN-γ-mediated autoinflammatory syndromes.
Autoinflammatory disease and hyperinflammatory syndromes represent a growing number of diseases associated with inappropriately controlled inflammation in multiple organs. Systemic inflammation commonly results from dysregulated activation of innate immune cells, and therapeutic targeting of the IL-1β pathway has been used to ameliorate some of these diseases. Some hyperinflammatory syndromes, ...
